The photographic exhibition “Timanfaya, Art Created by the Volcano,” by ethnographer and landscape photographer José María Barreto, is now open to the public at the former Casa de los Volcanes, located in Jameos del Agua, and will be available for visits until the end of summer 2025.
A journey through Timanfaya
This exhibition is the result of a photographic journey through the rugged landscapes and whimsical formations of the Timanfaya National Park. Barreto’s previously unseen images capture the symphony of colors and textures that emerged after one of the largest volcanic eruptions of the contemporary era. Through his lens, you can observe vegetation pushing through the mineral world and life forms emerging in a seemingly barren territory.
A tribute to the earth
The exhibition also aims to convey a message of respect for the Earth, the home of our origins. Barreto invites us to contemplate an intricate natural system where time, space, beauty, stillness, and geological diversity coexist.
Schedule and ticket
The exhibition will be available during the regular opening hours of Jameos del Agua until the end of summer 2025. Admission to the exhibition is included with the purchase of the center’s entry ticket.
