Art, Culture and Tourism Centers
Nature, art and culture among volcanoes
Lava tunnels, craters, gardens, viewpoints and architecture open to the landscape all belong to one way of exploring Lanzarote. In each Center, César Manrique’s vision helps you read the island through rock, light, water and the memory of its landscape.

Choose where to begin
Each Center offers a different way of seeing Lanzarote. Find the visit that best fits your route among volcanoes, lava tubes, gardens, viewpoints and architecture integrated into the landscape.
Timanfaya
Craters, lava flows and lunar-like landscapes reflect the heat of the earth that shaped Montañas del Fuego.
On the Islote de Hilario, geothermal activity shows that the subsoil still holds part of that heat.
Jameos del Agua
A section of the La Corona volcanic tube where rock, water and light shape the route through the first Centre created by César Manrique.
The interior lake is home to the blind crab, an endemic species adapted to darkness.
Cueva de los Verdes
Galleries, folds and mineral formations preserve the traces left by the lava in a section of La Corona’s volcanic tube open to visitors.
Jesús Soto’s intervention uses light to reveal the forms and depths of the rock.
Jardín de Cactus
A former rofera transformed into a garden where cacti from five continents occupy terraces that preserve the shape of the excavation.
Prickly pear cacti and cochineal production link the Centre to the area’s agricultural history.
Mirador del Río
Excavated into the terrain and covered with volcanic stone, the building conceived by César Manrique is barely visible from the outside.
Inside, two arched windows frame El Río and the Chinijo Archipelago, with La Graciosa facing the cliff.
Casa Museo del Campesino
Traditional architecture, rooms devoted to rural life and the Fecundidad sculpture shape César Manrique’s tribute to Lanzarote’s farming knowledge.
In its patios, cisterns, threshing floors and wine presses, the Centre shows how housing, farming work and trades were organised on an island of little rain, wind and volcanic soils.
Castillo de San José
Castillo de San José, an 18th-century fortress in the bay of Arrecife, is home to the MIAC and the Castillo de San José Restaurant, a unique space where art, culture, and gastronomy come together by
