The show “Entre hilos y huesos”: A Chant of Freedom in Dance.

On March 24th, the Jameos del Agua Auditorium will witness a spectacle that transcends conventional dance to become a visual poem that moves the soul and stirs the conscience. DANIEL DOÑA’s company presents their acclaimed show “Between Threads and Bones”, awarded the 2023 LORCA Prize for Best Flamenco Dance Show.

With a duration of 75 minutes and directed by visionaries Jordi Vilaseca and Daniel Doña, “Between Threads and Bones” stands as one of the leading references in contemporary Spanish dance. Daniel Doña, recognized as an inexhaustible explorer of movements, traditions, and avant-gardes, presents a work that goes beyond aesthetics to delve into the depths of our country’s historical memory.

The show, starting at 8:00 PM, will transport the audience through an emotional journey where suffering, fear, and tragedy are transformed into a powerful chant of freedom. From a syncretic, feminist, and unprejudiced perspective, “Between Threads and Bones” rises as a complaint and denunciation, an expression of poetic justice manifested through avant-garde dance.

The exceptional cast of performers, led by Sara Jiménez and Jordi Vilaseca, will immerse us in a world where tradition and contemporaneity converge in an explosion of relevance. The original music by Antonia Jiménez, Carlos Cuenca, Jose Luís López, and Paco Cruz, along with Elisa Sanz’s stage design and Belén de la Quintana’s costumes, create an atmosphere that is both nostalgic and avant-garde.

“Between Threads and Bones” is a moment of silence for those expelled from history, but it is also an exercise in memory that reminds us of the blind spots of our past. With guest choreographers like Manuel Liñán and Marco Flores, this work is a tribute to the voices of artists who fell into oblivion.

Do not miss the opportunity to witness this act of artistic resistance at the Jameos del Agua Auditorium. Tickets are available at a price of €30 without a cocktail and €50 if, after the show, you wish to enjoy a cocktail with views of the iconic pool of Jameos del Agua. The show is aimed at an adult audience seeking to be moved and challenged by the magic of dance

“Between Threads and Bones” is more than just a show; it is a testimony to the power of art to heal, transform, and remember. Join DANIEL DOÑA on this unforgettable journey to freedom through dance.

Entre Hilos y Huesos: The Poetic Lament of Dance

In the vast spectrum of art, there are expressions that go beyond mere aesthetics; they are manifestations that stitch together the broken fragments of history with the needle of creativity and the thread of emotion. “Between Threads and Bones,” the latest choreographic creation of the DDCdanza company directed by the talented dancer and choreographer Daniel Doña, emerges as a living testimony to this capacity of art to heal the wounds of the past and weave a more hopeful future.

Premiered on October 7, 2021, this work is not simply a flamenco and Spanish dance; it is an act of historical memory, a visual narrative that confronts suffering, fear, and tragedy with a chant of freedom. In a context where political passion and war have torn apart the social fabric, “Between Threads and Bones” stands as a beacon of resistance, a voice that rises to remember, to denounce, and to transform.
