ROAD CLOSURES AFFECTING TOURISTIC CENTERS IN LANZAROTE DUE TO THE CELEBRATION OF THE XXXII IRONMAN LANZAROTE ON MAY 18, 2023.

Timanfaya National Park

The LZ-67 road (Yaiza – Mancha Blanca) will be closed starting at 8:00 a.m., estimated to reopen at 1:30 p.m. During this time frame, only organizational vehicles will be allowed access. It is recommended to use buses from Yaiza starting at 1:30 p.m.

Casa Museo del Campesino

The roads leading to this center will be affected from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and then again from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Due to road closures, vehicle circulation on LZ-30 will not be allowed, and access to the center’s parking lot will only be permitted through Calle Los Reyes. At this location, auxiliary personnel will regulate access and exit from the parking lot inside the center through Calle Los Reyes.

LZ-20 (Arrecife-Tinajo) will be open, regulating only the Monumento Al Campesino roundabout.

Mirador del Río

Due to necessary road closures on LZ-201 and LZ-202, this center will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Jameos del Agua and Cueva de Los Verdes

Due to detours that will be made in the Guatiza, Mala, and Arrieta areas, buses transporting visitors north should access LZ-1 from Tahiche. These buses will then leave this road at the Guatiza intersection (gas station) and continue through the town to reach the centers. Both centers will be fully accessible, taking into account the possible traffic congestion in the LZ-1 section between Mala and Arrieta.

Traffic on LZ-1, between the Mala roundabout and the Arrieta roundabout, will be allowed in this direction only, with no traffic in the opposite direction. Buses accessing the Arrieta roundabout from these tourist centers will temporarily park in the parking area in front of the Museo del Aloe de Arrieta. Organization personnel will manage their transfer to the Mala intersection, and drivers must comply with their requirements. This transfer will be carried out by an escort vehicle from the organization, and due to the necessary detours and closures for the race, the opposite lane to normal traffic will be used for this movement.

The affected time frame will be from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Therefore, it can be understood that from early morning until 10:30 a.m., traffic will be free in both directions. It is recommended that bus tours be scheduled during the following time frames: from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. onwards.

Other road users with tourism vehicles will be redirected from the Arrieta roundabout to a designated path connecting Arrieta with Mala.

Jardín de Cactus

Since this center is not on the Ironman course, its normal operations will not be affected.
